    SPRING - JUNIOR YEAR
Register to take the Spring SAT or ACT. Register to take the June SAT Subject Tests IF the schools you are considering require them. Research colleges based on your preferences (e.g. size, location, distance from home, academic major, chances of admission). Use the SuperMatch college search tool in Naviance to customize your search. Visit with your counselor to discuss your "working" list of schools. Schedule visits to the campus(es). Call the school(s) in advance. Most colleges offer an organized tour and orientation. Try to visit schools during the summer. Refine your "working list" to 5 or 6 schools. Check online for the application and financial aid information.

If a school requires teacher recommendations, ask a junior teacher if he/she would be willing to write a favorable recommendation. You could ask a teacher of a subject related to your college major (e.g. engineering, chemistry, physics and/or math teacher). Please give them the recommendation form early enough so they can write a good recommendation without feeling pressured by time.

    SEPTEMBER - SENIOR YEAR
Submit applications online, request transcripts through Naviance.
WATCH APPLICATION DEADLINE DATES so a school you are qualified for is not eliminated because of failure to apply on time. Please keep in mind that the school counselors process many transcripts during each application deadline period of time. Students should request transcript ten work days before their school deadline to allow school counselors time to process transcripts.  Schedule interviews with colleges that require them.

    WINTER - SENIOR YEAR
    January
Parents should submit the necessary financial aid form AFTER JANUARY 1ST. Watch the financial aid deadline dates set by the colleges (usually Feb. 1 or Mar. 1). Four to six weeks after the form is filed you will receive an estimate of Student Aide Index (SAI). Check Naviance weekly at a minimum for local scholarships January to May.
