Mr. Ross Thibault
Mr. Ross Thibault, a life-long resident of Swansea, Massachusetts took over as Principal of Dartmouth High School on July 1, 2017. Mr. Thibault is a familiar face in southeastern Massachusetts having graduated from Joseph Case High School prior to majoring in History at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Mr. Thibault currently resides in the town of Swansea with his wife Kristin and two daughters Bella and Sophia.
After his graduation from the University of Massachusetts, Mr. Thibault began teaching in the Social Sciences Department at B.M.C. Durfee High School of Fall River. During his teaching tenure, Mr. Thibault taught U.S. History I, U.S. History II, World History I, Advanced Placement U.S. History and America in the 1960s. In addition, Mr. Thibault served for several years as a Summer School Teacher as well as a teacher in the Homebound Tutoring Program at Durfee High School and a Class Advisor to the Class of 2010.
Mr. Thibault’s experience as an administrator and educational leader began during the 2010 school year when he was selected to serve as a Vice Principal Apprentice under the direction of Durfee’s Associate Principal. Following his successful apprenticeship, Mr. Thibault was hired to serve as the Vice Principal of Durfee High School’s Class of 2013.
After several successful years as a Vice Principal at Durfee High School Mr. Thibault was hired as the Principal of Oxford High School in Oxford, Massachusetts. As the leader of Oxford High School Mr. Thibault oversaw a transformation that focused on putting students first improving the quality of instruction and programming for all students. As a result, Oxford High School improved from a Level 3 High School to a Level 1 High School for the first time since the accountability system had been implemented by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Prior to his departure from Oxford High School Mr. Thibault was cited for his exceptional leadership by the Oxford Board of Selectmen who noted the significant increases in graduation rate, Advanced Placement enrollment, course offerings and qualifying scores as well as the Level 1 designation.
Mr. Thibault holds a Master of Education degree from Bridgewater State University as well as a Certificate of Completion of Courses 1-4 from the National Institute for School Leadership’s Executive Development Program.
