The Role of the School Nurse
The Role of the School Nurse Includes:
- Providing acute and emergency care for students and staff.
- Conducting state-mandated screenings-scoliosis (Grs 5-9), vision and hearing (Gr PreK-5, 7, 9).
- Ensuring each child has the required immunizations.
- Medication administration and assessment.
- Planned care and assessment forStudents with Special Needs.
- Communicable disease control and prevention.
- Health counseling and education for students and staff.
- Providing and maintaining linkage to community resources and primary health care providers.
- Maintaining cumulative health records.
- Facilitating of the wellness policy.
- Enforcing the health policies.
- Participation in Crisis Intervention
