The Role of the School Nurse

The Role of the School Nurse Includes:

  • Providing acute and emergency care for students and staff.
  • Conducting state-mandated screenings-scoliosis (Grs 5-9), vision and hearing (Gr PreK-5, 7, 9).
  • Ensuring each child has the required immunizations.
  • Medication administration and assessment.
  • Planned care and assessment forStudents with Special Needs.
  • Communicable disease control and prevention.
  • Health counseling and education for students and staff.
  • Providing and maintaining linkage to community resources and primary health care providers.
  • Maintaining cumulative health records.
  • Facilitating of the wellness policy.
  • Enforcing the health policies.
  • Participation in Crisis Intervention
